NEB to open regional offices in Vancouver and Montréal

CALGARY - The National Energy Board (NEB or Board) announced today that it will open regional offices in Vancouver and Montréal in spring 2015.

The offices are part of an initiative to strengthen the NEB’s regional presence, raise awareness about its work, build stronger relationships with regional public and local institutions, communities, landowners and Aboriginal groups; and to be in a position to more quickly respond to events requiring immediate NEB attention.

“We want to do a better job of connecting with communities across the country and building relationships with Canadians,” said Peter Watson, NEB Chair and CEO. “A regional presence in Vancouver and Montréal will allow us to more effectively share information about the Board and the work we do to protect the public and the environment.”

Each office will be staffed to do community engagement, communications and operations.

The National Energy Board is an independent federal regulator of several parts of Canada's energy industry with the safety of Canadians and protection of the environment as its top priority. Its purpose is to regulate pipelines, energy development and trade in the Canadian public interest.
