NEB Chair’s Cross-Canada Engagement continues in Newfoundland

ST. JOHN’S - National Energy Board (NEB) Chair, Peter Watson, has arrived in Newfoundland today to continue his cross-Canada engagement initiative. To date, the NEB Chair has met with individuals and groups regarding the NEB’s pipeline safety and environmental protection programs in Nova Scotia and in New Brunswick.

During his visit, the NEB Chair will continue his scheduled meetings as he fulfills his public commitment to the engagement initiative.

A small and diverse group of NEB staff and leadership, including the NEB Chair, Board Members and staff will visit all Canadian provinces and the North to meet directly with interested groups, including municipal and provincial leaders and staff, First Nations organizations, environmental groups, first responders and academics. The NEB will also meet with a range of Canadian industry associations and professionals.

In addition to meeting with Canadians from coast to coast to coast, the NEB’s engagement initiative includes an online discussion forum, which is open to anyone who wants to share their views about pipeline safety and environmental protection. The discussion forum can be accessed from the NEB’s website at www.neb.soapboxhq.com/welcome/?l=en. The NEB invites anyone who wishes to comment or offer feedback on this Canadian initiative to email the NEB at: pipelinesafety@neb-one.gc.ca.

The National Energy Board is an independent federal regulator of several parts of Canada's energy industry with the safety of Canadians and protection of the environment as its top priority. Its purpose is to regulate pipelines, energy development and trade in the Canadian public interest. For more information on the NEB and its mandate, please visit www.neb-one.gc.ca.
