Zoe Anderson, Manager, Market Analysis, North American Gas and Power
BP Canada Energy Company

Zoe AndersonZoe Anderson joined BP Canada Energy Company in May 2004. Since joining BP, Zoe has held a variety of roles, all of which have been focused around providing short-term, "pretrade" supply, demand and pricing analysis associated with various trading strategies.

In 2005, Zoe moved to Houston to focus on natural gas basis markets within the Western Corridor of the United States. Her role evolved to include leading a team of analysts focused on studying natural gas basis markets within both the Western and Eastern Corridors of the U.S. In 2008, Zoe and her family moved back to Calgary so that she could expand her supply and demand fundamental expertise within Canada and the U.S Mid-West. She is currently the Manager of Market Analysis and leads a team of analysts in support of the trading, marketing and business development initiatives of the North Gas regional trading team.

Prior to joining BP, Zoe worked as a Gas Supply Representative for Williams Energy Canada (Inc).

Zoe holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Calgary.

Joe Benneche, Senior Natural Gas Analyst
U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration (EIA)

Joe BennecheJoe Benneche is a senior natural gas analyst at the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration (EIA), having been employed with them for over 20 years. His primary responsibilities are updating and maintaining the Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Model of the National Energy Modeling System for use in generating projections for EIA's Annual Energy Outlook and for other requested analyses, such as analyzing the impacts of proposed energy legislation. Joe is also responsible for the representation of Canadian natural gas markets and liquefied natural gas imports in the model.

Abha Bhargava, Team Leader, Energy Demand
National Energy Board

Abha BhargavaAbha Bhargava has over 25 years of experience in economic analysis and leadership in the field of energy and environment. She currently leads the Energy Demand Team at the National Energy Board in Calgary. Abha is also responsible for leading and managing the Energy Futures Project at the Board focusing on long term assessments of energy demand and supply in Canada.

Abha holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Waterloo, and a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Alberta. Her prior experience includes work with the Canadian Energy Research Institute in various capacities including Senior Director of Environment-Energy Modelling. She has also worked with Saskatchewan Energy & Mines in varied positions on a wide range of energy and environment issues. From time to time, Abha has served on several notable joint federal-provincial initiatives on energy and environment.

Jim Clarke, Director General, Operations
Major Projects Management Office

Jim ClarkeJim Clarke spent the first twenty years of his federal government career at the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and its predecessor, the Federal Environmental Assessment and Review Office. The first twelve of those years were in operations, managing panel reviews and later as Regional Director, Atlantic Region. His last 8 years at CEAA were as Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs where he led the 5 year review of the CEAAct. In 2003, he took on new challenges at the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission where his most recent position was as Director General, Regulatory Policy. Jim joined the MPMO in January 2008 as DG, Operations.

Jim Davidson, Team Leader, Gas
National Energy Board

Jim DavidsonJim Davidson received his education at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He gained experience with the oil and gas industry and provincial government prior to joining the National Energy Board in Canada in 85. Since then most of his career has been involved in reserves and resource appraisal for both oil and gas. He has led or co-led resource assessments for conventional natural gas in Canada, Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists and has been a member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy's Petroleum Society's Standing Committee on Reserves Definitions and was a member of the Group of Experts for the United Nations Framework Classification on reserves definitions. He is currently Team Leader for Natural Gas at the National Energy Board in Calgary, leading a team of gas supply and market analysts.

John Drexhage, Director, Climate Change and Energy
International Institute for Sustainable Development

John DrexhageJohn Drexhage is Director of IISD's Climate Change and Energy Program. With a team of 15 staff and associates across Canada and overseas, Mr. Drexhage's work on climate change is based on 15 years of experience on the issue, first as a domestic advisor and international negotiator on climate change and then as an expert analyst and manager for IISD. Drexhage's expertise covers a broad range of areas related to climate change, and he is currently focusing on regulatory frameworks for greenhouse gas emissions, post-2012 climate change regimes, market based instruments and more fully exploring linkages between adaptation, mitigation and sustainable development. Drexhage is also a Leading Author with Working Group 3 of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Mike Ekelund, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Initiatives
Alberta Department of Energy

Mike EkelunkEffective February 1, 2010, the Department of Energy has a new organizational structure and Mike Ekelund has been named as Assistant Deputy Minister of Strategic Initiatives.

Mike is a practising professional engineer and currently non-practising member of the Alberta Bar. Besides his bachelor of science in chemical engineering and his bachelor of laws, he has an undergraduate arts degree majoring in English and a master of business administration, all from the University of Alberta.

Mike has a long and successful history with the Government of Alberta. Over the past 24 years, he has held a number of positions, starting as a Legislative Intern with the Department of Education, and ranging from a Senior Economist to an Assistant Deputy Minister with the Department of Energy.

Prior to working for government, Mike had a broad range of experience including work as an engineer in oil and gas production across Alberta; practising criminal and civil litigation in Edmonton; and a stint as a member of the Edmonton Police Service.

In addition, Mike has demonstrated his dedication to the community and the energy sector as a:

  • Member of the founding Board of Directors of the Petroleum Technology Alliance of Canada (PTAC);
  • Member of the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) Board of Directors;
  • Member of the Alberta Chamber of Resources (ACR) Board; and
  • Occasional lecturer, on oil and gas economics and general business courses at the University of Alberta.

Mike was born in Stettler, Alberta and has lived and worked in a number of towns and cities across Alberta. The places he calls home include Pincher Creek; Rocky Mountain House, where his parents currently farm; and Edmonton, where he and his family live.

Mike has achieved one of his life goals, completing 25 full marathons by age 50, and has given himself a strict 50 year time limit to complete another 25 half and full marathons.

Peter Fraser, Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Renewables
Ontario Energy Board

Peter FraserPeter Fraser is Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Renewables, at the Ontario Energy Board. His current responsibilities include connection of renewable generation to electricity networks, oversight of wholesale electricity markets, regulatory aspects of electric reliability, and the review of network investment plans.

He has also been working with the World Bank (while on temporary leave of absence from the Board) on the establishment of an energy regulator in the Eastern Caribbean.

Mr Fraser's main professional experience is in electricity policy and markets. From 1998-2004, Peter worked at the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, France as senior electricity policy advisor. Prior to working for the IEA, he spent nearly 9 years as energy policy advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Energy.

Mr Fraser holds master's degrees in physics from Queen's University, Kingston and in environmental studies from York University, Toronto and a BSc in physics from the University of Toronto.

Angelo Giumento, Engineer, Electric Transportation
Hydro-Québec

Angelo Giumento (B.Eng'2004) received his B.Eng degree in electrical engineering from McGill university in Montreal. He is currently an engineer in the electric transportation team at Hydro-Québec Distribution division in Montreal, where he conducts different distribution planning, vehicle integration as well as electrification studies. His research interests include load impact studies as well as modelling. Before joining Hydro-Québec, Angelo was a program manager at CEATI International.

Bryan Gormley, Director of Policy & Economics
Canadian Gas Association (CGA)

Bryan GormleyBryan Gormley is Director of Policy & Economics for the Canadian Gas Association. Mr. Gormley has been with CGA for the past 6 years providing expertise in the areas of natural gas markets and prices, natural gas supply and demand, and the economic regulation of the natural gas distribution industry in Canada.

Before joining CGA Mr. Gormley spent 10 years as the Director of Market Risk and Economic Analysis with Export Development Canada and 6 years ias a Research Associate at the Conference Board of Canada.

Mr. Gormley has a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and a BA in Economics from Carleton University.

Georgette Habib, Board Member
National Energy Board

Georgette HabibMs. Habib holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the American University of Beirut and a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Alberta.

Ms. Habib joined the National Energy Board as a Member in October 2006. Prior to that Ms. Habib spent 24 years with the Alberta Energy & Utilities Board and her last position was as Manager of Economics. During her time with the EUB, Ms. Habib acted as a panel member at public hearings and provided expertise and advice to the Board on regulatory and policy issues.

Ms. Habib is currently a member of the NEB's Governance Committee and Vice Chair of the Canadian Association of Members of Public Utility Tribunals' (CAMPUT's) Energy Resources Committee.

Ms. Habib has also lectured intermediate-level courses in micro and macroeconomics at the University of Calgary.

Jim Hughes, Manager, Energy Analysis, Corporate Planning Department
Imperial Oil Limited

Jim Hughes is Manager, Energy Analysis for the Corporate Planning Department of Imperial Oil Limited, one of Canada's largest integrated petroleum companies, a position he has held since 85. In that capacity his responsibilities include participation in the development of annual outlooks for energy use and production in Canada and as part of work with colleagues in the ExxonMobil organization to develop similar outlooks for the world. He also follows, interprets and provides analysis and advice on developments in the Canadian economy, international and domestic energy markets and energy and economic policy matters.

This involvement with following the relationships between economic activity and energy use and supply have led to his taking an active role in the company's climate change policy.

He joined Imperial in 71 in what is now their information systems department and through his career has had responsibilities in systems, finance and planning.

He has a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of Toronto.

Kim Joslin, Vice President, Fundamentals, Midstream, Marketing and Fundamentals
EnCana

Kim JoslinKim Joslin is the leader of Fundamentals for EnCana. Kim and his team are responsible for analyzing and forecasting global energy markets, energy service costs and North America natural gas markets. His team is also responsible for the execution of EnCana's corporate hedge programs. Prior to his current role Kim was Vice President of Canadian Gas Marketing for EnCana. Kim joined Alberta Energy Company (AEC), a predecessor company of EnCana, in 96. Prior to joining AEC, Kim was with Imperial Oil Limited for 16 years in a variety of engineering and marketing roles. Kim has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary and is a Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta.

Dr. Brenda Kenny, President and CEO
Canadian Energy Pipeline Association

Brenda KennyDr. Brenda Kenny is President and CEO of the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) where she works with industry partners to develop industry positions and advocacy related to a wide range of issues including safety, climate change, regulatory efficiency and financial competitiveness. Brenda has extensive experience in energy regulation, sustainable development and strategy. Prior to joining CEPA, she spent a number of years with the National Energy Board where she provided executive leadership in policy, regulatory reviews and finance.

Brenda is an adjunct professor in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, and a part time Fellow with the Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy (ISEEE). She also serves on the Boards of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and WaterSMART, she is a special advisor to the Energy Sector Team of Enterprise Saskatchewan and has been active in a variety of community groups including Sustainable Calgary and imagineCALGARY. In 2009 she was appointed to the Board of the Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation (CCEMC), an Alberta independent not-for- profit organization that will invest in projects to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Brenda holds a Doctorate in Resources and the Environment, a Masters of Mechanical Engineering, and a Bachelors of Applied Science.

Ilan Kolet, Senior Analyst, International Economic Analysis Department, Global Issues Division
Bank of Canada

Ilan KoletIlan joined the Bank of Canada in 2002 and has worked in the Canadian Economic Analysis department and the International Economic Analysis department. For nearly five years Ilan covered the U.S. economy, frequently contributing to the Bank's Monetary Policy Report and Financial System Review. In early 2008 Ilan began following the commodities sector. Mr. Kolet travels widely across Canada and abroad, presenting his research at a wide range of conferences. Ilan holds a Master's degree in economics from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.

Dr. Wade Locke, Professor of Economics
Memorial University of Newfoundland

Wade LockeDr. Leonard Wade Locke is a Full Professor of Economics at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He specializes in the Newfoundland and Labrador economy, resource economics, public finance, public policy, innovation indicators, productivity, economic impact assessment and cost-benefit analysis. He has published extensively in a variety of public policy fields. In addition, Dr. Locke has provided his professional services to all three levels of government, to foreign governments and to national, local, regional and international businesses. He has served as an expert commentator and analyst to the local, national and international media. He is also a past president of the Atlantic Canada Economics Association and is a senior policy advisor to the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council. His research has had a major impact on public policy, particularly on the public finance of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the development of its oil and gas resources.

Dr. Locke's formal training consists of a Ph.D. (Econ) and M.A. (Econ) from McMaster University and a B.A. (Econ) and B.Sc. (Biology) from Memorial University. He also has a certificate in Applied Petroleum Economics from Van Meurs Associates through the Centre for Management Development (MUN). He was a gold medal winner in economics at MUN and won a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship and several university scholarships at McMaster University. He returned to the Newfoundland and Labrador in 84 and accepted an appointment in Economics at Memorial.

When he returned to Newfoundland and Labrador, the province's petroleum industry was about to take off and he conducted seminal economic research on the Hibernia project. He was also asked to develop an economic model of the Hibernia project for the provincial government. His pioneering work in this area established him as an expert in the economics of the Province's natural resources.

Chris Loewen, Team Leader, Oil/NGL
National Energy Board

ChrisLowenChris Loewen joined the National Energy Board (NEB) as Team Leader for Oil and Natural Gas Liquids in June 2009. Prior to joining the NEB, Chris held a number of positions within the federal public service. From 2005 to 2009, he was the Project Leader for the Mackenzie Gas Project (MGP) - Crown Consultation Unit and responsible for coordinating all federal-Aboriginal consultation in relation to the MGP and leading the preparation of the federal Government's first Crown Consultation Report. Chris began his career in the federal public service in 95 holding several positions with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada in Gatineau. From 2000 to 2005, he was an Implementation and Fiscal Negotiator and worked on several historical comprehensive land claim and self government agreements including the 2004 Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.

Chris holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary (1994) and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Carleton University (1999).

Doug MacCallum , Manager, Energy Markets
Ontario Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure

Doug is Manager, Energy Markets with the Ontario Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, with over 20 years of government experience in the area of energy policy. Current areas of responsibility in energy policy include the oil sector, natural gas supply and transmission, intergovernmental relations, international electricity reliability, and climate change.

Doug is a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, and a graduate of the University of Toronto (B.A.Sc.) and the University of Western Ontario (M.B.A.).

John McCarthy, Business Leader, Strategy and Analysis
National Energy Board

John McCarthyJohn McCarthy leads the NEB's Strategy and Analysis Business Unit which is responsible for the development of the NEB's regulatory program and the monitoring and reporting on energy market developments through the Board's Energy Information Program. John also holds the position of Chief Conservation Officer under the Canada Oil and Gas Operations Act. Previously, John has held a number of positions within the Board including Business Leader, Commodities; Business Leader, Operations; Director of the Pipeline Engineering; Chief Safety Officer and Chief Engineer.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary. John lives in Calgary with his wife, Joanne, and their three boys.

Dennis J. McConaghy, Executive Vice-President, Pipeline Strategy and Development
TransCanada Corporation

Dennis McConaghyAs Executive Vice-President, Pipeline Strategy and Development, Dennis McConaghy leads the gas business development activities at TransCanada with a focus on Alaska, Mackenzie and other new pipeline developments, as well as extensions and expansion of our existing systems in Canada and the US. Mr. CcConaghy is currently responsible for liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas. He sits on the company's Management and Business Development committees.

Mr. McConaghy joined TransCanada in 98, and has held senior positions in Corporate Strategy and Development, Midstream/Divestments and Business Development.

Prior to TransCanada/NOVA merger, Mr. McConaghy held several senior positions with NOVA Corporation and NOVA Chemicals Ltd.

Mr. McConaghy has more than 25 years' experience in oil and gas, beginning his career as a Research Associate with Alberta Research Council. He has also worked for the Alberta Gas Trunkline and the Alberta Gas Ethylene Company.

Mr. McConaghy graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 73 and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 75.

R.J. (Bob) Modray ,Team Leader, Electricity
National Energy Board

Bob ModrayDuring the past decade, Mr. Modray has concentrated on developments in electricity markets and matters pertaining to the NEB's regulation of the electric industry, mainly with respect to international power lines and electricity exports. Among other responsibilities, he has been responsible for initiating and leading the NEB's analysis of electricity markets and participating in the NEB's ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of regulatory processes. He has managed and contributed to many of the Board's Energy Market Assessment reports focusing on electricity matters, including the NEB's long-term energy outlooks for Canada. He is currently Team Leader, Electricity in the NEB's Strategy and Analysis Business Unit. Mr. Modray holds a B.A. and M.A. (Economics) from York University, Toronto.

Bob Oliver, Executive Director
Pollution Probe

Bob OliverBob Oliver is the Executive Director at Pollution Probe. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University, and brings more than fifteen years experience managing industrial projects and developing strategies for energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

At the helm of Pollution Probe, one of Canada's oldest and most respected environmental organizations, Bob has built strong relationships with government and industry to advance practical solutions to environmental challenges. Recently, Bob built a collaborative partnership between the Canadian Automobile Association and Pollution Probe to promote "ecomobility" - a plan to reduce automobile emissions that views the driver, the vehicle and the road as part of an integrated system.

Prior to becoming executive director, Bob established the Transportation Program at Pollution Probe, initiating effective campaigns to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation activity in Canada. Bob has researched and authored several major Pollution Probe reports on transportation technology and policy, including Greenhouse Gas and Vehicle Fuel Efficiency Standards for Canada, and has been a contributing author on other important publications, including Sustainable Development Technology Canada's Sustainable Development Business Case on Industrial Freight Transportation.

Bob is a member of many expert advisory panels and steering committees, including the National Advisory Committee on Energy Efficiency, the Steering Committee for Canada's Electric Vehicle Technology Roadmap, the Advisory Group to the Commission for Environmental Cooperation Secretariat's Independent Study on Sustainable Freight Transportation in North America, the Green Mining Initiative Advisory Committee and the Great Lakes Canadian Stakeholder Advisory Panel.

Before joining Pollution Probe, Bob worked at Marbek Resource Consultants in Ottawa, focusing on environment and energy management program development for government and industry clients. He has worked at Cintas Corporation, increasing the energy efficiency and productivity levels of production plants in Canada and the U.S. through improved operations logistics, equipment modernization and programs to conserve water and energy. He has additional experience in intelligent transportation systems design and hazardous-source radiation detection systems in the heavy transport industry.

Kevin Page, Parliamentary Budget Officer
Library of Parliament

Kevin PageKevin Page was appointed Canada's first Parliamentary Budget Officer on March 25, 2008. The Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) is an independent officer of the Library of Parliament who reports to the Speakers of both chambers and who is responsible for providing independent analysis to the Senate and to the House of Commons about trends in the national economy, the state of nation's finances and the estimates of the government.

Mr. Page has 26 years of experience in the federal public service. Many of the years were in the central agencies - Finance Canada, the Privy Council Office and the Treasury Board Secretariat - where he held positions responsible for the provision of advice and analysis on economic, fiscal and expenditure management issues. Mr. Page has also held different positions in other departments including Human Resources and Social Development Canada, Agriculture and Agri-foods Canada and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Mr. Page was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario in 1957. He has a Master of Arts in Economics (1982) from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. He is married and the father of three children.

Tara Smolak, Market Analyst
National Energy Board

Tara SmolakTara Smolak is an Energy Market Analyst with the NEB's Strategy and Analysis Business Unit. At the NEB, Tara has contributed to the development of the long-term energy supply and demand outlook, acting as the assistant project manager as well as the energy demand analyst. She has also contributed and provided project management for various other energy information publications at the NEB. Tara is actively involved in the regulatory process at the NEB. Previously, she worked as an Economist for Environment Canada where she focused on energy and climate change issues. Tara has a B.A in Economics (honours) from the University of Calgary and a M.A. Economics from the University of Victoria.

Alfred Sorensen, President, CEO and Director
Galvenston LNG

Alfred SorensenAlfred Sorensen is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Galveston LNG based in Calgary, Alberta. Galveston was founded in 2004 and is developing a worldwide LNG midstream business with projects in Canada and Nigeria. Prior to founding Galveston, Mr. Sorensen was the President of Duke Energy (Europe) Ltd and was responsible for the development of Duke Energy's European strategy. Mr. Sorensen began his energy trading career with Direct Energy in 1987 and went on to be a partner in Continental Energy Marketing Ltd which was ultimately sold to Pan Energy Corp., a predecessor company to Duke Energy. Mr. Sorensen is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta.

Katie Sullivan, Canadian Policy Director
International Emissions Trading Association

Katie SullivanKatie Sullivan recently joined the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) as its new Canadian Director. In this role, Katie leads IETA's efforts in further enhancing its Canadian members' ability to engage in constructive climate policy dialogue at federal, provincial and territorial levels, while also contributing to IETA's growing international policy work on economic instruments to combat climate change. Prior to joining IETA, Katie worked as a consultant for ICF International, where she provided strategic climate change advisory services and specialized in greenhouse gas policy and carbon market developments in North America. While at ICF, Katie was Secretariat for the Industry Provincial Offsets Group (IPOG), a Canadian multistakeholder group formed to provide the federal government with policy recommendations on key design elements and market considerations for Canada's emerging domestic offsets system. Katie holds a Masters in Environment, Development and Policy from the University of Sussex, and an Honours Bachelor of Public Affairs & Policy Management from Carleton University.

Eli Turk, Vice-President
Canadian Electricity Association

Eli TurkEli Turk is Vice-President of the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA). Founded in 1891, the CEA is the national forum and voice of the evolving electricity sector in Canada. At the heart of CEA is a core of corporate utility members that account for about 95 percent of Canada's installed electricity generation, transmission and distribution capacity.

Prior to joining CEA, Mr. Turk was Vice-President of Business Development and a member of the management team of Alcatel Canada. He has also held management positions with Newbridge Networks Corporation, worked as Senior Policy Advisor to the Federal Industry Minister, acted as constitutional negotiator and Director of Policy for the Inuit Tapirisat and worked as a consultant on environmental and business.

In 98, Mr. Turk was a Research Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard University. Mr. Turk holds a B.Commerce from the University of Ottawa and completed studies in business, law and technology management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University. He holds a Master in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. In 2001, he was named a top 40 under 40 business leader by the Ottawa Business Journal.

Tim Weis, Director of Renewable Energy and Efficiency Policy
Pembina Institute

Tim WeisTim Weis is a professional engineer and the Director of Renewable Energy and Efficiency Policy at the Pembina Institute. Tim has written numerous technical reports and development manuals on renewable energy and energy efficiency on issues at national, provincial and municipal levels as well as issues specific to First Nations' and northern contexts. He has assisted more than 20 communities at various stages of development of renewable energy projects. Tim has also worked as a renewable energy consultant examining wind energy challenges in Northern communities. Tim is currently completing his PhD at the Université du Québec à Rimouski studying wind energy development in remote Canadian communities, and has a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alberta where he studied ice adhesion to wind turbine blades.

Todd Williams, Director, Energy
Navigant Consulting, Inc.

Todd Williams, is a Director with Navigant Consulting and leads their Canadian energy practice. Todd has almost thirty years of domestic and international energy market experience.

He has provided technical and financial advice to the Ontario Power Authority in several generation procurement initiatives, including development of financial models used in evaluating generation proposals and options.

He has advised various private and public sector clients on renewable and other generation opportunities including the opportunities available under Ontario's new Feed-in-Tariffs and served as an expert witness on generation valuation, avoided costs and Power Purchase Agreement pricing.

He holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Engineering Physics from Queen's University and an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.

Deborah Yedlin, Business Columnist

Deborah YedlinDeborah Yedlin began her career working as an investment banker in 1987, working in New York for Goldman Sachs. Upon completing her MBA in Finance, Deborah continued working in corporate finance, first in Toronto and then in Calgary. Deborah's career in business journalism began in 1996 and has included positions with the Financial Post and the Globe and Mail. Deborah has held her current position as business columnist for the Calgary Herald since April 2007. She is also a weekly business commentator for CBC radio.

In addition to her professional obligations, Deborah is active in the Calgary Community, sitting as a director on a number of not-for-profit boards.

Deborah holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta, an MBA from Queen's University and recently completed the Institute of Corporate Directors program through the Haskayne School of Business.
