Export Volumes by Region

  • Revenue generated by Canadian exports jumped sharply to CDN $25.3 billion, an increase of 38 percent over 2002.
  • The average export price in 2003 was CDN $6.72/GJ, an increase of 50 percent over 2002.
  • Reported Canadian gas exports totaled 3 480 Bcf, a decrease of 7.9 percent, or about 300 Bcf from 2002.
  • Of note, reduced exports to California and the Pacific Northwest account for the majority of the variance in Canadian exports.
Export Volumes by Region

Reported Canadian gas exports were down, in part due to:

  • lower Canadian gas production,
  • higher Canadian end-use demand,
  • storage build up in 2003,
  • lower demand in certain export markets,
  • higher liquefied natural gas imports into the U.S.
