Video Stories - Loyola G. Keough - Transcript

Loyola G. KeoughHi. I'm Loyola Keough. I was Board Counsel from 1985 to sometime in 1988. I joined the Board largely based on harassment from Lori Smith who you probably heard from, and the good graces of Sandy Fraser and Fred Lamar who was at the interview as well. You can imagine joining the Board following Mr. Smith's departure. There was a lot of things required to clean up so I had a lot of things to do early in my career with the Board. You would also appreciate it was the time of deregulations I was there, and thanks to Sandy I had the opportunity to get involved in a large number of the leading cases of the day dealing with deregulation. That certainly set the platform for my career as it's unfolded; I've been with Bennett-Jones since that point in time, and quite enjoying still dealing with the regulatory world, still enjoy the practice before the NEB and still stay in touch with the folks over there. I had an enjoyable time at the Board, I do resent Jim Dolan for taking me running on the seawall in Vancouver and running just fast enough to tucker me out every single time we did it, and if I sped up he sped up faster. Fond memories of the Board and I think nothing but the greatest of it and wish the Board the happy 50th and lot of fun still. Thank you.
