My name's Roland Priddle. I had the honour to be the Chairman of the National Energy Board from 1986 till 1997. Prior to that from 1965 to 1974 I was a member of the Board's staff. As I look ahead over the next 50 years, the challenge is going to be to deal with an increasingly varied energy industry in Canada, and facing many different demands on the social and environmental side, and also to sustain an adequate supply of energy for the country. The Board's challenge will be to be the energy regulator of record for the country; to continue what it's been doing for half a century. I think it's very well equipped to do that with a strong Board and an excellent supporting staff and I wish you well for the next ten, twenty or thirty years.
