Declarations of Significant and Commercial Discoveries

Applications for Significant and Commercial Discovery Declarations in regards to the Canada Petroleum Resources Act have been processed by the Board since 1991. Lands identified are in non-Accord areas and include only Crown administered sections. First Nations assigned lands,as recognized by land agreements, are excluded.

The Table of NEB Declarations [515 EXCEL KB] is a summary that shows the field name and/or well name, company, NEB area with the declaration date and sections identified. The table is based on Declaration Letters that can also be found throughout the Board's Regulatory Agenda listings since 1997. Where there is a difference between the table and the letters, the letters are considered as the official Board record of decision. These declarations can also be found throughout the Board's Regulatory Agenda listings since 1997. Land adminstration maps can be found at the Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) website that show the resulting Crown assigned lands for all declarations made prior to and including the Board's declarations.

Applicants are encouraged to meet with the Team Leader, Conservation of Resources (tl_cor@neb-one.gc.ca) and staff prior to filing an application.
