National Energy Board to Hold Written Hearing on the Yukon Pipelines Limited Abandonment Order Review

CALGARY - The National Energy Board (NEB) today released Hearing Order MHW-R-1-2008, announcing its intention to hold a written hearing process for the review of Order MO-7-96. Subject to a number of conditions being met, this order granted Yukon Pipelines Ltd. (YPL) leave to abandon the Canadian portion of a pipeline and associated facilities that operated from Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon.

The NEB intends to examine the issues outlined in Appendix I of Hearing Order MHW-R-1-2008. Any party who wishes to suggest an amendment or addition to this List of Issues must file their suggestion with the Secretary of the Board and serve a copy to YPL and its counsel by noon (MDT) on 14 October 2008. Please consult the Hearing Order for contact information.

Any person interested in participating in the hearing may do so by filing an application to intervene, or by providing a letter of comment. To intervene in the hearing, an application must be filed with the Secretary of the Board, with a copy to YPL and its counsel, by noon (MDT) on 14 October 2008. Letters of comment must be filed with the Secretary of the Board, with a copy to YPL and its counsel by noon (MST) on 21 November 2008.
