Liaison to prepare for emergencies

Liaison to prepare for emergencies

NEB-regulated companies must establish and maintain a close working relationship with agencies that may be involved in an emergency response on a pipeline. These could include first responders, city planners, municipalities, and indigenous groups. Companies must have discussions with these agencies to make sure they co-ordinate the response if an incident occurs. These discussions may take place during the development and updating of the emergency procedures manual.

Examples of topics for discussion include:

  • accountabilities
  • responsibilities
  • key roles
  • public safety measures
  • communications
  • response capabilities (including equipment, people and training)
  • response times
