CSA Public Review Period – CSA Z260 – Pipeline System Safety Metrics (New Standard)
July 3, 2018
The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is inviting public comment on the draft standard CSA Z260 Pipeline System Safety Metrics, New Standard.
This standard is described by CSA as:
- Providing requirements to establish a set of common safety metrics for pipeline systems along with an approach that can be used across the pipeline industry and regulatory jurisdictions for categorizing unintentional pipeline releases and developing leading indicators. Reporting requirements are defined by regulatory agencies and this Standard does not supersede incident reporting requirements set by these agencies. This standard is intended for use in process and performance improvement of pipeline safety and reporting of unintentional pipeline releases where organizations have discretion in setting metric definitions.
The NEB is represented on a number of CSA Technical Committees and Working Groups including the CSA Z260 Technical Committee. The NEB encourages you to review and provide comments if safety metrics are of interest to you, prior to August 7, 2018.
The standard can be accessed on the CSA Group Website.
