Today, the Honourable Greg Rickford, P.C., M.P., Minister of Natural Resources, introduced in Parliament amendments to key legislation governing pipeline regulation. The Pipeline Safety Act (Bill C-46) seeks to amend the National Energy Board Act and, to a much lesser extent, the Canada Oil and Gas Operations Act.
The National Energy Board (NEB) is responsible for implementing the regulatory mandate set for it by Parliament through legislation. Changes that strengthen safety and environmental protection align well with the NEB’s strategic goals, and the NEB supports measures that strengthen our processes and those of the companies we regulate.
For more details on all of the proposed amendments, please see the announcement on Natural Resources Canada’s website.
